Goldwell, leaders in professional salon only hair colour and style, have continued their partnership with fashion design sister duo macgraw to create a hair look that brings to life the vision of their modern day shepherd girl in their Spring/summer 2015 collection "Shepherdess".

Benni Tognini "There is a real movement towards undone styling at the moment, the natural texture and waves of hair being made part of a style, instead of correcting it. The macrgraw 'Shepherdess' girl is the perfect example of this hair. The look was to be kept fuss-free and wearable, with an image of a little farm girl transformed into a modern day woman. We tidied the hair as a first action, worked in extra body and volume and then finished by making the pony tail a simple feature. I love this hair for runway and real life."

TECHNIQUE
To achieve the macgraw hair look, follow Benni Tognini's step-by-step instructions below:

Start by blow drying the hair into a full, voluminous style with a centre part, using StyleSign Double Boost at the roots and working StyleSign Naturally Full through the ends of the hair

Spray the sides of the hair with StyleSign Hot Form spray and wind each section into knots. Run hot irons over the knots and then brush out

Back comb the back of the hair to add some volume to the roots and create the slightly messy texture, spritz with StyleSign Magic Finish to hold the body

Draping the hair over the ears, pull the sections together and secure into a low pony tail at the nape of the neck.

Backcomb the pony tail once secured and mist StyleSign Sprayer to set the style. Add ribbon to finish the look.

STEP BY STEP
Australian womenswear label Aje is translating secular life in to modern and beautiful clothing with its SS15/16 collection Vihara. The collection fuses the signature Aje aesthetic with ancient artisan techniques for a diverse array of RTW pieces for the modern woman. Aje takes inspiration from the Victorian era via a mutton-sleeve denim maxi dress with cinched waist and cutout details. A nod is given to the 70's trend with a bonded silk linen mini skirt and matching bonded silk linen bodice - both with hand-made 'bee' embellishment inspired by the ancient art of bee keeping within monastery walls. And the label once again plays with a favourite material – raw silk – to craft a long line top with fringing worn over silk linen pants. Cult followers of Aje will be clamouring for its elegant evening gowns, hand-embellished and structured to shape and accentuate the female form. In keeping with the collection theme, hemlines are long and cuts are modest, with glittering adornments balancing the decadence of each hand-finished piece.
Aje was thrilled to partner with Goldwell for their show in 2015 "For Aje, it was important to work with a leading hair brand that shared the same creativity and passion for refined design. Goldwell was the perfect choice as our MBFWA partner and the styling team have taken our SS1516 theme 'Vihara' (inspired by monastic life) and translated it in to an elegant and eclectic runway look which we predict will be a major hair trend next season."
The hair for this show was kept simple and chic, but had added layers of complexity in colour. Dale Delaporte directed the styling element of this look, "The things I picked up on the most within the collection was the element of fragility within some of the lighter fabrics and the femininity of the cuts, teamed up with the heavier effect of fabrics like denim, and the textures and dimensions found in the embellishments. To me, the Aje girl is strong, effortlessly chic, and loves a minimal beauty look to let the outfits speak for themselves. The hair look this season lies perfectly within that range. She still has that subtle rebellious edge with those coloured ends, but that face faming shape and minimal movement in the hair ties in solidly with the collection and the designer's aesthetic. It was important for this look to frame the face well, those front sections by the parting are directed into the face, just kissing the outer half of the brow, and then just as gently bend away to expose the cheekbones. The key to this look is subtlety."
To compliment this styling Kate McQuitty created the colour work for the runway, "The Aje brand and collection is all about femininity, with a range of beautiful pieces and many with some kind of embellishment. Working the coloured pieces to the hair adds an extra element to the style as the embellishment adds the luxury to the pieces, allowing them to talk for themselves. The colours comprised of a shimmer of either a pale champagne crème blonde or an earthen warm brunette. This palette is complimentary to the natural colour and tones in the hair, lending to the model's natural hair colour to determine if there was lightness or darkness on their ends. This techniques is keeping with the elegance of the range and not to convey some hard statement, thus the gentle and soft blend from one colour to the other and not a solid line or block colours."
To achieve the Aje hair look, follow Dale Delaporte's step-by-step styling and Kate McQuitty's colour-work instructions below:

STYLING

Create a natural centre part with your fingers, apply StyleSign Power Whip evenly throughout the hair and blast dry to 90% maintaining the part, and directing front hairline toward the face when drying.

Part the hair horizontally, mid-way behind the ear in a curve shape and follow through to the nape of the neck, leaving approximately 2cms free around the hairline.

Take this bottom section and tie into a secure ponytail at the occipital bone. Lightly backcomb the mid-lengths and ends of the pony, wrap into a bun and secure to the base of the nape. This will serve as a volumising filler later in the style.

Use bobby pins to attach the coloured weft around the bun and secure tightly.

Dry remaining hair with a medium sized round brush paying attention to the ends, as well as the root direction around the face. Root lift should be natural, with some body through mid-lengths and ends. Be sure to blow-dry a natural movement into the hair to assist tonging.

Using a 3cm curling tong, heat sections in a random shaped but consistently dense pattern, directing hair away from the face. Allow to cool and then run a wide tooth comb through to break up the style, add StyleSign Naturally Full and gently backcomb for extra volume and lift.

Loosely pull hair back at the chin and secure with a loose tie, there will need to be a moderate amount of give in the elastic to enable altering of the shape and texture of the style.

Delicately pull loose hair above the ears and letting those natural, shorter hairs around the face fall away from the bulk of the hair to create a slightly 'undone' finish

Lightly spray with StyleSign Magic Finish to hold the style.

COLOUR

Take an 18 inch weft and carefully distort the middle part to prepare for balayage.

Using Goldwell Colorance, have the darkest colour ready to do first and apply the colour evenly and precisely paying attention to create a natural looking meld line.

Once the colour has developed, rinse with Dualsenses Color Fade Stop Shampoo and towel dry.

Prepare the lighter colour, apply to the weft where needed and then process again

When ready, remove the colour product and shampoo and condition using Dualsenses Color Fade Stop Shampoo and Dualsenses Color Detangling Conditioner.
